The Junior League of McAllen (JLM) welcomes women of all races, religions and national origins who exemplify a commitment to voluntarism. Membership is available to women who meet the following two criteria: 23 years old or older AND a resident of McAllen or a community adjacent to McAllen. Informational meetings open to the public are held each year and serve as an opportunity for potential members to meet current members and to learn more about what the JLM does for our community. Prospective Member Information Sessions are held starting in the Spring through the Summer in the JLM office located at 514 E. Dove Ave. in McAllen.

The Junior League of McAllen is looking for enthusiastic, motivated ladies to join us for the next Provisional Class!
Provisional members complete a training course during their first year of service. This course incorporates the following concepts: volunteer management and leadership, The League structure and policies, community awareness and enlightenment. Provisional members also complete a Provisional Project during their first year. In the past, these projects have benefited organizations such as the Children's Advocacy Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the Make a Wish Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY
PROVISIONALS
Provisional members are those members who are engaged in the training established by the JLM to prepare them for effective community and league involvement. Provisional membership is available to women 23 and over. Provisionals must satisfy all requirements of their Provisional course for admission to Active membership. Provisionals are not eligible to vote or hold office. |
ACTIVES
Active members are those members who have completed the Provisional training and justify Active membership by demonstrating volunteer service to our community and to the JLM. Active members can vote and hold office. |
SUSTAINING
Sustaining members are those members who have fulfilled the Active membership requirements, who continue to support their league and community, who have submitted to the Vice President of Membership a written request to go sustaining by February 1st of their final year and have either, Ending with the 2009 Fall Provisional Class, reached the age of forty by March 31st of that Active year and completed five Active years of membership or Completed eight years of Resident Active membership regardless of their age. |
