The Junior League of McAllen was founded in 1938 and became affiliated with the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1985.

The Junior League of McAllen envisions significantly improving the quality of life of the children and youth of our community by preserving the innocence of childhood, encouraging responsibility, and promoting a safe environment.

     The Junior League of McAllen is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism and to improving the community through the action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  We strive to proactively meet critical needs of the McAllen community either by initiating or collaborating with community groups for positive solutions.  Our volunteerism and financial grants are primarily concentrated on high-impact projects which fulfill our Vision Statement.  We welcome into our organization women of all races, religions and national origins who exemplify a commitment to volunteerism.

 

 

 

Announcing the Junior League of McAllen’s Adult Spelling Bee
A great afternoon of fun and challenge!

We need spellers!  We need sponsors!  We need YOU!
All proceeds to benefit the children of McAllen and its surrounding communities through JLM's community outreach programs and educational scholarships.

 

What can you do? 
* Send up to a five person team from your business, office, neighborhood, church, PTO…you get the idea.  Your $100 entry fee will benefit our community outreach programs.  Print, complete, and mail the Spelling Bee Team Registration Form.
* Enter as an individual ($10 at the door).
* Make a contribution and generally support the Spelling Bee.  

Why bee a sponsor? Why bee a speller?
You'll want to bee part of the fun!  Plus, all the money raised by this event will help the Junior League of McAllen fulfill its mission to improve the quality of life of the children in our community by preserving the innocence of childhood, encouraging responsibility, and promoting a safe environment.
TEAM SPELLERS (SPONSOR TEAMS)
* Qualifying Sponsor Teams (minimum $100 donation & complete team registration form) can have up to 5 members.
* Sponsorship includes up to 5 life lines to use as you wish during the official spelling bee round.
* 1 drink of your choice from a selected menu per team member.
* Your team name will be featured and recognized during the event.
INDIVIDUAL SPELLERS
* Individual spellers ($10 ticket can be purchased at the door, no registration form needed).
* May purchase life lines the day of the event.
* Ticket also includes 1 drink of your choice from a selected menu.

Will people know that you support our Junior League of McAllen?
Yes!  Team sponsors will be recognized with gratitude on the day of the event, in the JLM newsletter, on JLM's website, and on the Bee publicity board (if their payment is received by March 18, 2013).
