HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
The Junior League of McAllen, Inc. welcomes women of all
races, religions and national origins who exemplify a commitment to volunteerism. Membership is available to women who meet the following criteria: 25-years-old
or older, resident of McAllen or a community adjacent to McAllen & sponsorship by
2 current members. This sponsorship requirement is designed to provide new members
with advice and support throughout their first year. An informational
meeting open to the public is held each year and
serves as an opportunity for potential members to meet current members who could
serve as their sponsors. The next informational session will be held in January.
Provisional members complete a training course during their first year of
service. This course incorporates the following concepts: volunteer
management & leadership, Junior League of McAllen structure & policies,
community awareness & enlightenment. Provisional members also complete a
Provisional
Project during their first year. In the past these projects have benefited organizations such
as the Children's Advocacy Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Dress for Success and the Make
a Wish Foundation. CLICK
