PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE |
From "hands on" placements
to serving league internally, I have been able to witness the dedication
our membership has to making an impact on the children and youth of our
community. I am blessed and
honored to be part of such a powerful group of women.
I challenge every member to carry on
with the strong and rich traditions of the 70 years of service set before
them.
We will accomplish this
by continuing to provide our time and energy to the Palmer Drug Abuse
Special People Program, Teen Court, Bully Talk at McAllen ISD, Arts in Medicine at
Vannie
Cook
Children's Cancer
Center, and Community Connections which supports other nonprofit
organizations. We will also host our 6th annual
Children’s Arts and Literacy Festival.
We will touch many lives
through each of these programs.
In addition to giving of our time, we make financial contributions to our
community that are equally important.
It goes without saying that these financial impacts would not be
possible without the hard work of our members in Resource Development,
Cookbook, and our Dias Festivos Marketplace committees.
I cannot wait for "Christmas in Candyland" - this year's
Dias Festivos Marketplace!
We must also recognize and applaud the
work accomplished by those that deliver our message.
The work done by our Public Relations, Magazine, and Newsletter
committees is critical so that we
show the community we remain steadfast to our vision and the AJLI mission
of volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving
communities.
I welcome the members of this year's
Provisional Class who are a vital part of this organization. I thank
our Board of Directors for their commitment, enthusiasm, dedication, and
expertise. It is through the
team effort of all members that the Junior League of McAllen is able to do
amazing things. Impact Tomorrow Today!
